Juneteenth 2022

Sunday June 19th celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved people in Texas were informed of the emancipation proclamation that was signed six months prior. While Lincoln’s proclamation is often cited as the end of slavery, it did not truly end until Juneteenth when all those enslaved were informed.

Please note that all BCEH offices will be closed on Monday June 20th, 2022 in observation of this important holiday.
